As of the summer of 2020, the water bottling plant in the town of Devin – home to DEVIN Mineral, DEVIN Spring and DEVIN Air – now operates entirely on 100% green electricity. This will lead to an important annual reduction in total carbon dioxide emissions of ~20% and is one of several steps the industry leader is taking towards achieving a zero carbon footprint.
The switch to green electricity has increased the Spadel Group’s overall footprint from 35% green energy in 2019 to 45% in 2020. All our factories now rely on 100% green electricity, with other energy sources (such as gas) currently under review. The aim is to be 100% reliant on renewable energy sources across all Spadel brands by 2030.
“We are firmly committed to our policy and commitment to doing business in a sustainable way by keeping the environment top of mind. We are happy to have achieved our goal of switching to 100% green electricity for our site in 2020 and are now striving for 100% of renewable energy. At present, Devin uses more than 85% green energy. This is a totally new stage in our development as a market leader in bottled water that contributes to a sustainable economy,” says Petya Manastirska, Sustainability & Quality Manager at Devin EAD.
The efficient use of natural resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is among the main business priorities of Devin EAD and is in line with the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals.
